Supportive Services:

Northern Nevada Community Housing Resource Board acts as a property development and property management agency for its six affordable apartment complexes and is increasingly involved in the supportive services needed to help our citizens with the lowest incomes maintain their housing independence.

NNCHRB takes a holistic approach in providing services to its clients. Many clients are battling a combination of mental health, substance abuse, physical health and educational deficiency issues, as well as not having the training and/or education needed to function in society independently.

Supportive Housing Program:

The mission of NNCHRB's Supportive Housing Program (SHP) is to help those most in need in our community achieve greater self-actualization.This is achieved by providing hands-on case management and other services like access to a food pantry, budgeting and money management, "Getting Ahead" classes through the FBNN, renters education, basic living skills, healthy relationships, computer labs, job searching, etc. By offering case management and social services on sight, at each location, tenants have the resources they need to remain in permanent housing and stabilize their often unstable lives. While NNCHRB as an organization feels for the clients’ circumstances, it is imperative that the program establish parameters for acceptable behaviors, as well as an expectation of what the clients will achieve while enrolled in the program. Although there must be structure and general expectations for all supportive housing clients, every client and family present different struggles and each client’s program must be structured and handled on a case-by-case basis.

NNCHRB has found that it is mutually beneficial to the community and our tenants to partner with social service agencies to provide 9 units in our housing complexes, at a discounted rate, for the client's of the non-profit of choice. This helps the non-profit serve their client's more effectively and in turn, helps our community by creating contributing members of society. The client's that participate in the supportive housing program receive intense case management services and have many requirements they must fulfill to remain in the program. These clients work very hard to achieve their goals and earn the benefit of housing by actively participating in many classes, workshops, and programs.

Tenant Support Program:

NNCHRB also offers all of the services that the supportive housing program provides to all the tenants of all our properties. Tenants that participate in these services, classes, and benefits do so on a VOLUNTARY basis. It is not a requirement of NNCHRB that each tenant participate in these services although we have found that most tenants chose to because of the positive effects they see in their lives.
